Chargeable Weight Explained Simply
Airlines do not bill on scale weight alone. They compare actual weight with the space your cargo occupies.
- Actual weight — what the carton weighs on a scale, including packaging.
- Volumetric weight — the space occupied, converted to a weight figure using a divisor of 6000: length × width × height in centimetres, divided by 6000.
- Chargeable weight — whichever is greater, actual or volumetric.

Door-to-Door with DDP and DDU Terms
For importers without a customs broker at destination, door-to-door shipping removes the most common source of delay. Under DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), we arrange carriage, export and import clearance, duty payment, then deliver to your address or an Amazon FBA warehouse. Under DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid), we handle transport and clearance while the consignee settles duty and import taxes.
DDP is simpler to budget because landed cost is agreed up front; DDU can be preferable if you have a customs account or want to reclaim import VAT yourself. We quote both structures.
